Tiger at the 6th at the US Open

Postby marfo53 » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:01 am

I was a bit concerned when I saw Tiger prepare his shot from the lip of the bunker at the sixth hole at The Olympic Club (awful lie) friday during the second round. How close did that come to building a stance?
I had the feeling his last move might have been across the border. He already had tried to get a hold on the wall and pushed sand down to where it was naturaly possible. Wasn't the last attempt just to get more sand to the bottom and elevate is foot, thereby building a stance? Would have been a very tough call to make, if indeed that should be the case.
Anyone saw it and cares to comment?

Hi Mario,

I do remember the ball coming to rest somewhat precariously on what appeared to be the grass lip of the bunker. I do, however, remember the commentator remarking gravity may cause the ball to drop in the bunker before Tiger got to his ball. Unfortunately, your recollection is much clearer than mine, but I do not remember anything untoward regarding Tigers stance prior to him making the stroke.

What we think we see see is not always what the camera sees. That said, had there been any doubt by any officials either close at hand or viewing the situation, as broadcasted, we would have heard something about it. Therefore, in the absence of any subsequent discussions, we must assume everthing was OK. However, perhaps somebody may have a recorded segment for our perusal here or seen a report in the press.

Regards,
Ropn.
